Hobbs Middle School proudly hosted today its first AVID Career Day, giving students the opportunity to hear from professionals representing a wide range of careers. One of the most significant impacts of our AVID program is building students’ opportunity knowledge, and today’s Career Day helped expose students to real people working in a variety of professions. Each guest speaker shared valuable insight about their career path, education, and experiences in their field. Through AVID, this is the type of authentic, real-world learning students experience at Hobbs Middle School.
We would like to extend a sincere thank you to our guest speakers who helped make this event such a success:
⭐ Lt. Melanie Roger – Miami-Dade Fire Department
⭐ Shawn Housh – Welder
⭐ Brad Davis – Pilot, American Airlines
⭐ 1st Lt. William Ratajczyk – United States Marine Corps
⭐ Greg Brown – Santa Rosa County Property Appraiser
⭐ Kim Gonzalez – Department of Homeland Security
⭐ Christopher Brown – Radiology Manager, HCA West Florida Hospital
Your willingness to share your time, knowledge, and experiences helped inspire our AVID students and provided them with a meaningful look at the many opportunities available to them in the future.
We are grateful for your support and look forward to continuing this new tradition of AVID Career Day at Hobbs Middle School! 💚

Congratulations to Marie Hickman, CTE teacher at Hobbs Middle School, for being selected as our District’s CTE Rookie Teacher of the Year! This honor reflects the incredible impact she has made in a short time through her passion for teaching, commitment to student growth, and dedication to preparing our Jaguars with real-world skills that will serve them well beyond middle school.
Ms. Hickman’s classroom is a place where students are challenged to think critically, create boldly, and explore future pathways with confidence. She represents the very best of what Career and Technical Education can offer — meaningful, hands-on learning that connects school to opportunity.
Way to go, Ms. Hickman! You’re one of the best, and we appreciate everything you do for our students and school! 🐆

We’re excited to announce the upcoming 9th Grade Showcase & High School Registration Kickoff!
🔹 Student Showcase
🗓 March 10 (during the school day)
This special event is just for students and will give them a preview of life at Milton High — including academics, electives, and opportunities awaiting them next year.
🔹 Parent Information Night

This evening session is especially important for families. MHS will walk through the high school registration process, which can feel overwhelming the first time. Attending will ensure you understand graduation requirements, course selections, and how to best support your student as they transition to high school.
✅ This is the first and most important step in preparing for 9th grade — we strongly encourage all parents/guardians to attend.

These students have gone above and beyond to demonstrate confidence, professionalism, critical thinking, and leadership. Through every round, they represented our school with poise and determination — and showed what it truly means to rise to a challenge.
Your hard work, courage, and commitment to excellence set you apart. No matter the final outcome, you’ve already accomplished something extraordinary.
Congratulations to each of you — we can’t wait to see where your talents take you next!

Please take a moment to check out the most recent edition of the HMS Times to learn more about all the latest Hobbs Happenings!
Thank you for staying connected and involved in our school community.
